Tree on the Move

In 2016, I was consumed by the desire to improve my photography and to start capturing scenes around the US, so setting the modest goal of visiting every National Park in the US seemed like the place to start!

One of the parks in our first trip was Bryce Canyon, where I was blown away by the resilience of this Pinion Pine with roots that seem impossibly exposed, but ones that suggest that this little tree is marching along the viewpoint ledge in search of deeper soil.

The splash of deep pine greens against the vivid oranges of the hoodoos is so quintessentially Bryce, and this image was always one of my favorite takeaways from this park.

I didn’t know much about landscape photography at this early point of my journey, but I knew that I had something special here!
